Sophie’s got it right!June 18 2008

JoAnn from New Jersey, a northern girl who says, “ya’ll”, sent me these great photos of her Happy Monkey Sophie.

Sophie recently created this beautiful diorama for school with a report on Wangari Maathai, and she is now, according to her mom, a new “soldier for green.” She highly recommends the new book for children, Planting the Trees of Kenya: The Story of Wangari Maathai by Claire A. Nivola. She especially loves that Wangari Maathai won the Sophie Prize, a Norwegian International Award given for environmental righteousness.
